Since its establishment in 2017, CC88, Inc., a non-profit organization established by the Cornwall College Class of 1988 and incorporated in Jamaica and Florida, has awarded 64 scholarships totaling approximately $7 million Jamaican dollars. These scholarships are granted to students of Cornwall College high school in Montego Bay, Jamaica, based on academic merit and financial need.
 
This year, the following students were honored with scholarship awards on October 18, 2024:
 
Tequan Ellis – $150,000
Alex Shaw – $150,000
Patrick Rosegreen – $112,500
Howard Malcolm – $112,500
Darnell Daye – $75,000
 
In alignment with its mission to promote excellence in science, the “Class of 88 – Dr. Karl M. Dhana Scholarship for Excellence in Sciences Award” was presented to Justin Brackett for the 2024–2025 academic year. Justin is the seventh recipient of this distinguished annual award, which carries a scholarship value of $150,000.
 
To encourage entrepreneurial spirit among Business students at Cornwall College, the “Class of 88 – Rueben Murray Spirit of Entrepreneurship Award” was introduced in 2022. Now in its third year, this year’s recipient is Dillon Watt, who was awarded $150,000.
 
The awards were presented by Class of 1988 representatives, including Mr. Wilbert Harding, Mr. Nigel Shaw, and Mr. Robert Smart. The organization takes immense pride in supporting these students and celebrating their achievements. It remains an honor to collaborate with Cornwall College each year to empower the next generation through education.
 
Ms. Shari Bucknor and Ms. Kaydene Thomas were honored as recipients of the prestigious “Class of 88 – Dothnie Maud Gordon Outstanding Teacher” awards. These accolades, presented annually by Michael Gordon and family in memory of their late matriarch, Ms. Dothnie Maud Gordon, aim to inspire excellence among Cornwall College faculty while celebrating exceptional teaching practices. Each awardee received a monetary prize of $75,000 Jamaican dollars in recognition of their dedication and impact.
