In an effort to recognize outstanding educators, CC88 conducted a poll among the student body at Cornwall College to nominate their favorite teachers for the prestigious Outstanding Teacher award. For the fourth consecutive year, numerous nominations were received, accompanied by heartwarming testimonials expressing gratitude towards the instructors. Following an evaluation based on criteria such as Knowledge, Creativity, Patience, and Accessibility/Accommodation, Matthew Bartlett (Mathematics) and Samantha Brown (Economics) emerged as the top contenders.
On Monday, December 18, 2023, during Cornwall College's end-of-year Carol Service, Matthew Bartlett and Samantha Brown were honored with the 'Class of 88 - Dothnie Maud Gordon Outstanding Teacher' awards, presented annually by Michael Gordon and family in honor of their family matriarch, Ms. Dothnie Maud Gordon. This distinction serves as a motivational tool for Cornwall College faculty members while acknowledging exceptional teaching practices demonstrated by these two recipients who each received a monetary prize of $75,000 Jamaican dollars.

Oct-13-2023: Since 2017, CC88, Inc., a non-profit organization formed by Cornwall College Class of 1988, and incorporated in Jamaica and Florida, has awarded 57 scholarships valued at approximately $6 million Jamaican dollars to students based on academic merit and financial need at their alma mater Cornwall College high school in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
This year, the following students received scholarship awards:
TAJHAUN BENNETT - $112,500
ALEX SHAW - $112,500
JORDAN FORRESTER - $112,500
KALEL WILSON - $112,500
HOWARD SMITH - $112,500
HOWARD MALCOLM - $112,500
JHERRON HYLTON - $112,500
MAURICE COCHRANE - $112,500
In fulfillment of their mandate to promote excellence in the area of science, the “Class of 88 – Dr. Karl M. Dhana Scholarship for Excellence in Sciences Award” was awarded to JUSTIN BRACKETT for the 2023-2024 academic year. He is the sixth recipient of this coveted annual award. He was awarded $150,000.
In an effort to support Business students at Cornwall who demonstrate a passion for Entrepreneurship, the "Class of 88 - Rueben Murray Spirit of Entrepreneurship Award" commenced in 2022. This is the 2nd year of this award and this year's recipient is DILLON WATT. He was awarded $150,000.
On hand to deliver the awards were Mr. Nigel Shaw and Mr. Robert Smart of the Class Of 1988. Mr. Shaw spoke to the assembly of students about Failures. He asked the students to always acknowledge failures, grow from them, understand why the failure occurred so they may improve and ultimately grow from it. He urged them to get a mentor/coach so they will have a more experienced person to guide them to be better. He asked the students to always be resilient, remain determined to succeed and have the grit as "Future Men of Might" to overcome all obstacles along the way. His message was well received by the students at Cornwall College morning assembly.
