The 2025 Cornwall College Scholarship Award Ceremony and a Special donation from JFF Ambassador took place on October 17, 2025 at the Cornwall College Chapel in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
 
Opening Remarks:
Principal Ellis congratulated the Cornwall Class of 1988 (dba CC88, Inc) and the Cornwall College Alumni Association of South Florida for their consistent investment in the students and invited others to follow their example.
 
Key Highlights:
– The event host CC88, Inc representative, Mr Robert Smart, welcomed everyone to the ceremony, reflecting on his time at Cornwall College and the impact it had on him. He emphasized that the event celebrates the future potential of the students and the school, highlighting the following key areas that students should focus to contribute to their success: Education, Family and Religion.
– The keynote speaker, Mr. Nigel Shaw, emphasized the importance of brotherhood and the unbreakable bonds formed at Cornwall College. He shared a personal story about losing his father and the support he received from his CC88 brothers, highlighting the significance of brotherhood. He also explained the rigorous review process for selecting scholarship recipients, ensuring that the awarded funds make a significant impact. Mr Shaw, concluded with a message of encouragement to students to stand out academically and to appreciate the faith and effort of their parents and guardians.
– The ceremony honored outstanding students with academic scholarships from Cornwall Class of 1988 (CC88, Inc) and the Cornwall College Alumni Association of South Florida.
– Ten students received scholarships ranging from $75,000 to $150,000 JMD from the Class of 1988, while nine students received $1,000 USD each from the Cornwall College Alumni Association of South Florida. A total of 2.3 million dollars awarded in academic scholarships.
CC88, Inc awards: Dr. Karl Dhana award for Excellence in the Sciences was presented to Jordane Forrester, and Rueben Murray Spirit of Entrepreneurship award presented to a top business student Okeen Watson. Both top awards are valued at $150,000 JMD each. Jahiem Williams & Tequan Ellis each received $150,000 JMD. Othnel Gordon & Kyle Moore each received $112,500 JMD. Jeremiah Bent, Darnell Daye, Howard Malcolm & Jordan Forrester each received $75,000 JMD.
Cornwall College Alumni Association of South Florida awards: Jordane Forrester, Zane King, Jayden Kareem Stewart, Dontae Bent, Tyree Woolery, Matthew Nesbeth, Kyle Moore, Mario Birch, Jordan Forrester & Tyrone James received academic awards valued at $1000 USD each.
– The event also recognized outstanding teachers, Shari Bucknor and Samantha Brown, who received The Dothnie Maud Gordon Outstanding Teacher awards and monetary gift of $75,000 each presented by sponsor Michael Gordon.
– Andrew “Baddus” Clarke Kindness awards were presented by Mr Hayden Marks to role model students Jordane Forrester and Jherron Hylton based on a student poll for students exemplifying Kindness at Cornwall College along with monetary awards of $50,000 each.
– Jamaica Football Federation Ambassador for The U17 Reggae Boyz and Cornwall College Alumni, Mr. Omar McFarlane, made a special donation of $250,000 to the Cornwall College Football program.
 
Special Guests and Presenters:
– Robert Smart officiated the ceremony
– Nigel Shaw, a HR leader, delivered the keynote address.
– Robert Smart, Denzle Latty, Michael Gordon, Nigel Shaw, Kirkwood Richards, Andre Sukhram and Hayden Marks presented academic scholarships.
– Denzle Latty presented a symbolic check for $250,000 on behalf of Omar McFarlane
– Michael Ellis, Principal of Cornwall College, and Richard Meggo, Board Chairman, also played key roles in the ceremony with opening and closing remarks respectively.
– Neville Bell (CC Alumni Mid West Chapter President) and Stephen Jennings (CC Alumni Montego Bay Chapter President) supported the event.
 
Closing Remarks:
– Richard Meggo (Board Chairman) thanked the sponsors, families, and faculty for their support and congratulated the scholarship recipients.
 
The ceremony concluded with a brunch reception, where guests could directly engage the awardees.
